Mezzaluna in Barnsley
After two years of operating as a takeaway during the social ban of COVID-19, the owners of Mezzaluna seized the opportunity to make the most of their spacious restaurant when restrictions were lifted. The previous cafeteria-like atmosphere, with monotonous walls and a red quarry tile floor, no longer reflected the amazing food or atmosphere the restaurant
Tight Schedule Redesign
With a mere six weeks to revamp the entire restaurant on a shoestring budget, we embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. Meticulously planning the design, we carefully tracked material and labour costs to ensure a remarkable outcome. Our vision for the space involved dividing it into two distinct areas: a cosy lounge bar for pre and post-dinner drinks, and a sophisticated dining section.
In the lounge bar, we selected low furniture, featuring comfortable sofas, chairs, and coffee tables, creating an inviting and relaxed environment.
In the restaurant we introduced timber wall cladding and splashed out on a stunning inkblot-style wallpaper from Tektura. Towards the rear of the restaurant, a striking tiled wall became a focal point, adding depth and character.
Lighting & Flooring Innovations
To create a more intimate atmosphere, we replaced the old lighting fixtures and reduced the overall lighting levels. This adjustment ensures a cosy and comfortable space, where you can fully enjoy the dining experience.
Furthermore, we bid farewell to the red quarry tile floor, replacing it with luxurious LVT timber effect flooring, a transformation that has completely revitalised the space. To complement our stylish refurbishment, we added a touch of timeless charm with a beautiful black and white tiled bar apron.
Mezzaluna was always an institution for the Mapplewell locals, now we can’t even get a table!!
