Kitchen:
In the kitchen renovation, our aim was to seamlessly blend modern functionality with original features, such as the stone floor and the iconic Aga cooker. Collaborating with the well known kitchen designers at Treske, we designed a bespoke space that works with the home’s heritage while embracing contemporary comforts. Carefully selected high-end appliances were seamlessly integrated into the design, complementing the sleek quartz countertops.
We opted to finish the cabinets in the Inchyra Blue by Farrow and Ball. This striking choice adds depth and character to the space, creating a contrast against the pristine white quartz countertops and elegant brass finishes. To enhance the ambiance further, we installed a smoked glass mirror behind the Aga.
Dining Area:
As entertaining played a significant role in the client’s lifestyle, we collaborated with Treske to design a grand 12-seater dining table. Handcrafted from solid oak, the table exudes a mid-century modern aesthetic. To accompany the table we selected the exquisite Neva Dining Chair by Artisan in a striking black stain. Over the table we added a modern 1.5m wide Scandinavian inspired lighting feature.
We positioned a substantial sideboard at one end of the table, complemented by the presence of an ornate gilt mirror above. Additionally, we commissioned bespoke Crittall bi-fold doors to enclose the dining area.
Living Room:
The living room underwent a prior extension, effectively doubling its size; however, this expansion also presented challenges in terms of functionality. To optimise the space, we divided it into three distinct zones.
Firstly, we established a TV zone featuring a cosy seating area and a custom-made media unit. Secondly, we designated a tranquil reading corner, complete with a plush armchair and focused task lighting. Lastly, we designed a separate seating area positioned around the fireplace, ideal for intimate gatherings or moments of quiet contemplation.
Library:
Within the office/library, we commissioned custom bookshelves, desks, and window seats tailored to the space. The clients wanted a traditional gentlemen’s club feel to the room so we used Farrow and Balls Green Smoke on all the finishes.
To further personalise the space, we used a wallpaper designed by a Scottish designer, a nod to the client’s love for Scotland.
